Before I even get to the report from People Magazine, may I state that this man has been a main stay for Criminal Minds for 12 seasons and should continue to be so. I am not condoning physical violence in any way, but seriously this happened 2 weeks ago and has anyone ever heard of Thomas Gibson being a prima donna…NO! Whoever this writer is needs to get over it and listen to the actors who have made this show what it is…and Thomas Gibson is amazing!!!
NOW ON TO THE STORY…
“There were creative differences on the set and a disagreement. I regret that it occurred,” Gibson, 54, said in a statement to PEOPLE. “We all want to work together as a team to make the best show possible. We always have and we always will.”
“Almost out of instinct, Thomas basically kicked him in the shin,” says the source, adding that the writer “seemed alright at the time, but when his team found out it turned into something bigger.”
The source continues, “This all happened two weeks ago, and everyone is fine now.”
Deadline reports that Gibson’s status on the show is “under review” and that he will no longer direct any episodes this season. The exact time frame of the suspension is unknown, but his character will temporarily be written out of episodes, according to Deadline.
Though Gibson was also alleged to have engaged in a physical incident with a fellow Criminal Minds staffer some years back, according to the outlet, the source tells PEOPLE: “Thomas is the most kindhearted family man. He’s a great father, takes care of his mom and spends as much time with his kids as possible. He’s a great guy, and I hate that this minor disagreement is what people are hearing about him.”
The writer involved in the alleged incident could not be reached for comment.
Criminal Minds returns for season 12 on September 28 on CBS.
