“The Boys” is not a show that hides away from explicit content, with enough scenes that make you cringe or even just utter the words “what the heck”. One scene seemed to have fallen on the cutting room floor though. A scene that seems somewhat tame compared to some of the things that actually made it into the show.
Co-creator of the show, Eric Kripke, spoke recently about the controversial scene that Amazon ended up putting their foot down on and demanding to be cut.
Eric Kripke went on to say that their was one scene that Amazon said had to be cut immediately. The scene in mention came in episode 2 after Stillwell gave an order to Homelander and in a way spoke down to him, the scene featured Homelander standing on the Chrysler building’s eagles. The mighty hero then proceeded to pull down his pants and started jerking off, mumbling the words “I can do what I want” until he finishes over New York City. According to Kripke, they even shot the scene with Anthony Starr (Homelander) and it was amazing. Kripke defended the scene saying it showed a real insight to the broken mind of the Superman-ish hero.
Even though Amazon ordered this scene cut, they have been pretty great to Kripke and the show. Picking up the show for a second season only a few days after its release, and allowing Kripke free reign with the show.
So, what do you think? Do you think this scene should have been cut from the show? Or did it somewhat fit right in?
