“THE SEASON SO FAR…
To be honest, I have been a little worried about ‘Supernatural’ over the last few seasons,…9 to be exact! I have gone on many a tangent about some over the top episodes that took away from the very essence the show was built on! That all seemed to change with Season 13. The addition of Mark Pellegrino (Lucifer) to the cast was a brilliant move on behalf of higher powers behind the show and a dream come true for me! This man can do no wrong in my book! WARNING POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD…
Although we have seen a lot of other earths on almost every CW show over the last few years (Arrowverse), I welcomed the story if it meant bringing back Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver)! Bobby provided a safe haven for the Winchester boys during their dark times and I missed that since his death in Season 7×10 (Death’s Door). What I love about Apocalyptic world Bobby, is not only does he have certain qualities that we know and love from our Bobby, but we get to watch a new relationship grow between Bobby, Sam, and Dean.
Season 14 of ‘Supernatural’, started off with a bang following right where it left off, where Dean gave himself over to the Archangel Michael to use as his vessel in order to save Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Jack (Alexander Calvert) from the diabolical hands of Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino), who was pitting the boys against each other for a fight to the death!
Fast forward to Season 14, and I could not get enough of Michael (Jensen Ackles), who wanted to create chaos in the world for humans by coming up with hybrid breeds of monsters. Although Michael maybe MIA at the moment, I think we are only seeing the beginning of the damage that has put into motion. Kudos again to Jensen Ackles for making Michael thoroughly enjoyable and nothing like Dean.
When Season 13 premiered, I will be honest, I was not sure about the introduction of Jack (Alexander Calvert) as a series regular. It was like they writers were trying too hard to make him likeable, and Calvert was all over the place. This boy, just could not find his footing. This season however, finds Calvert more comfortable with the character of Jack and his relationship with Sam, Dean, and Castiel (Misha Collins) is tighter, and more enjoyable to watch.
Lastly, a huge shout out to something I have gained the greatest pleasure with this season and that is the small nods to earlier episodes. Whether it be Djinn’s, witches, or raising the dead, the show had us going, “Wait, I have seen that before”, and it was nice. The earlier seasons of Supernatural will always be my favorite, no doubt, but season 14 is definitely heading in the right direction.
With only 2 episodes left before the winter break, I look forward to seeing what they pull out of their hats next!
Synopsis: When Sam and Dean join forces with an unexpected ally, the outcome will alter the course of two lives. Meanwhile, Heaven faces an attack from a dark force, driving Castiel to make an enormous sacrifice to make things right.
