Ric Flair Threatens WWE With Legal Action Over “The Man”

He is the stylin’, profilin’, limousine riding, jet flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin’ n’ dealin’ son of a gun, and he’s threatening a lawsuit against his former employer. Yes, “The Man” as he wants to be known now, is threatening WWE with legal actions, over the title of “The Man”.

“The Nature Boy” and 16 time world champion, has filed a trademark application for the moniker “The Man”. This coincides and impedes upon the use of that title by the current Raw Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch.

According to Ric Flair, he is trying to work out an agreement, privately with WWE, over the use of the name. Yet, he has stated that he is willing to take legal alternatives if they refuse to meet upon some arrangement.

Ric Flair also admitted to TMZ, that his quest to gain legal rights over the name has led to a rift between him and his daughter, Charlotte Flair. This perhaps is because of Charlotte and Becky’s friendship, and the fact that Becky first started using the name in her feud with Charlotte Flair, becoming an instant hit with the fans.

The 70 year old, Flair says that he is not doing this for selfish reasons, but instead is trying to gain financial security for his family. His near death experience two years ago really opened his eyes, and he is hoping that he can provide for his family, the family of his wife, and of course his wife, Wendy. He also stated that he doesn’t care what the WWE thinks of him anymore, knowing that people have lost respect for him.
