Netflix’s “Magic: The Gathering” Animated Series Picks Up Avengers Directors

Based off the popular collectible card game, featuring might and magic, comes the “Magic: The Gathering” animated series, brought to you by Netflix. And none other than the Russo brothers, Anthony and Joe Russo, directors of “Avengers: Endgame“, will be producing the entirety of the show.

Set within the world of fantasy and science fiction of the Magic card game, the Russo brothers plan to bring this universe to life through animation. As long time fans and players of “Magic: The Gathering”, the Russo brothers are extremely excited about this project and are ready to oversee the creation of the stories that delve deep into the Planeswalker universe.

The Russo’s will be working alongside the Magic rights holders, Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast (also known as the rights holders of Dungeons and Dragons), who are equally excited about this new project as their two new executive producers. Although no release date has been released yet, the series is declared in pre-production with Henry Gilroy (writer of Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and Jose Molina (Writer of The Tick) serving as the series showrunners. The show will also have Yoriaki Mochizuki, known as the story artist for “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse“, serving as the Magic series’ supervising director and co-executive producer, along with the Russo brothers.
