NBC’s New Battlestar Galatica Reboot

There has been a certain need for “Battlestar Galactica” for a long time now. One of television’s most famous and staple sci-fi universes, “Battlestar Galactica” will be getting its very own reboot on NBC. This reboot will be headed Sam Esmail, creator of the show “Mr. Robot“.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the show will be headed by “Mr Robot” creator Sam Esmail and will take inspiration from the 2004 series rather than the original 1978 series by Glen A. Larson. The series will be a more updated version of the 2004 “Battlestar Galactica” with better effects, but keep the overall tone of the series.

Although no writer has been hired yet, Sam Esmail will be the executive producer of the series and it will be his second show for NBC, his other one being an adaptation of the 1927 sci-fi classic “Metropolis” for television.

The show is set to be released along the initial programming slate for 2020 on NBCUniversal‘s own streaming service, “Peacock“.
