James Gunn’s Suicide Squad 2 Is A Reboot?

Last week it was discussed how Disney and the Marvel executives have decided to rehire director James Gunn for their “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3“, while this had been decided we also found out that the director has been working on the sequel for the 2016 film “Suicide Squad“. Yet, it isn’t a sequel at all it seems. A reboot to fit the ever changing DC film landscape, “Suicide Squad 2” will have nothing to do with the original.

Producer Peter Strafan has gone on record saying that movie isn’t actually Suicide Squad 2, but rather a new Suicide Squad. The movie is said to even have a whole new cast of characters in the squad as well, besides staples like Harley Quinn and Deadshot. With Will Smith stepping away from the role, Idris Elba has decided to fill the assassins shoes. Margot Robbie is said to make an appearance as Harley Quinn, but that’s still not confirmed, and it’s safe to wonder if they just want her to stay in the “Birds of Prey” film.

The film will be called “The Suicide Squad“, and not much is known about it. Questions fill the air wondering how the movie will turn out considering the re-haul of the entire DCEU that is taking place right now. With a new Deadshot and new Joker, I can’t help but wonder how all of this is going to play out. Are they still trying to compete with the MCU and attempt to do the same thing, or have they finally realized they have their own ball and should roll with that.
