Director James Gunn was fired from any future Marvel Cinematic Universe movies back in July of 2018 after a series of decade old controversial tweets resurfaced. Many of the lead actors from the film, supported James Gunn and wanted him to return. Now, it seems that the former “Guardians of the Galaxy” director may be back on the project to direct the new “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” film.
After the month of July 2018, Gunn was released from any future endeavors including Marvel, he was then soon picked up to direct the film “Suicide Squad 2” by Warner Bros. A quote from Marvel says that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will start production and filming when director Gunn is finished with the Suicide Squad 2. The next Suicide Squad film is supposed to be released in 2021 on August 6th.
It is fascinating that James Gunn was picked up by Warner Bros. to direct the next Suicide Squad film, especially because of the criticism the first one got for attempting to be like a Guardians of the Galaxy film. But, who better to get for your film than the man it was said to have copied from. I’m excited to see the two films and see the comparisons between the two, wondering if the second Suicide Squad film will be better than the first.
