There is never a distaste for classic action/adventure films. When you say the words action and adventure in the same sentence most people immediately think, “Indiana Jones“, and that is a good thing, especially now that we will be getting a fifth entry into the series.
In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Harrison Ford was asked what are the hardest things that you have to consider when returning to old roles such as Indiana Jones or Han Solo, to which Ford replied with the most honest answer:
“Trying not to look silly… you know… hang around in tight pants and high boots. I’ll give you a more appropriate answer, considering I’m going to start doing Indiana Jones in about two months.“
It has been around 12 years since the last installment in the franchise, with the last being “Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” back in 2008. And hopefully, the film will improve upon its predecessor’s mistakes.
During the month of February 2020, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy stated that their team is still very hard at work working on the script and just trying to get “the script where it wants to be.” She also stated that this film will not be a reboot, but a continuation of the Indiana Jones world, which makes sense considering how Ford is back at the helm. To be fair, Ford did make an honest statement about the Indiana Jones character: “When I’m gone, he’s gone. It’s easy.“
The film is slated for a theatrical release on July 9th, 2021, although this may change at any time.
