How do you revive a series that was teetering on the brink of repetitive garbage? Well according to the new spin-off of the “Fast & Furious” franchise, you get rid of the man who made the franchise so popular and replace him with the unlikely duo of Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson. Who would’ve suspected that this film would have such an amazing opening that it knocked “The Lion King” down from its pedestal.
Of course the series is known for being a successful one, even if you think the films are bad and boring, the series is one that Universal Pictures can count on to make them money. Aiming to gross the most amount of money worldwide rather than domestically, Universal gets most of their money from China where the films seem to do their best. “Hobbs & Shaw” has the smallest domestic debut of the franchise since 2006 when “Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift” debuted. And as long as these films keep entertaining someone, they will keep making them.
