HBO Confirms 10 Episodes For “Game of Thrones” Prequel “House of the Dragon”

Now that “Game of Thrones” is over, ever media outlet and television channel is fighting to create the next big fantasy drama series. HBO seems to think that no one can stop their might as they have just confirmed a 10 episode pick up for their spin-off series, shortly after cancelling a different spin-off series for the same show.

Set 300 years before the events of “Game of Thrones”, the new series called “House of the Dragon” will feature the Targaryen’s as the main family of the 7 kingdoms. The new series will showcase their rule over Westeros, and the might of their dragons.

The series will follow the basis of George R.R. Martin’s other works, “Fire & Blood”. A companion book to the original and main series of novels.

This news comes in the wake of the tragic news that HBO’s originally planned sequel for the hit fantasy drama series, starring Naomi Watts, has been cancelled before it even started. The widely anticipated series was not commissioned a full series by HBO, leaving many people to be curious as to why? It could possibly be because they are instead focusing on their already exiting shows like the new “Watchmen” series, “Barry“, and the new seasons of “Westworld“. Or it could be because they didn’t believe it had a strong enough story to it.

Let us know what you think in the comments below or on our social media pages. Are you excited for the new GoT series? Or do you think they should’ve just left the series alone?
