Game of Thrones’ George R.R. Martin’s New Project “Elden Ring”

A new project based on classic western fantasy, yet not directly inspired by the “Lord of the Rings” novels, George R.R. Martin is credited with being the universe creator for the new video game “Elden Ring“. Working alongside Hidetaka Miyazaki, the company president of the critically acclaimed company From Software, known for creating “Dark Souls” and “Bloodborne“, as well as the recent “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice“.

This new game will be focused on environmental story telling similar to the “Dark Souls” series, rather than the straight forward narrative and a fixed main character that “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice” had. Working with George R.R. Martin, who will be creating the universe and lore to the game, Miyazaki is stressing that exploration will be more expansive, creating some deeper story development than his previous games.

Focusing on the world and the events within it, rather than your character and their development along this journey, this game’s world is set to be more appealing than From Software’s previous games. Having a less vague story, George R.R. Martin is working with the developers on creating more influential NPC’s capable of being relatable.

The game’s trailer is similar to the intro to “Dark Souls 3” in the way it tells the plot, while also somewhat showing the horrors that you may be facing along your journey. Speaking about the powers of the Elden Ring, the game trailer really sets the atmosphere for sadistic story telling that George R.R. Martin is known for, while also portraying the depressing environment and character arcs that From Software is known for. From Software and Mr. Martin are a match made in heaven.
