After such a long time since being in the role, Ewan McGregor will finally be returning to the legendary character in a show on the streaming service Disney +. Fans have been begging for a standalone movie starring Ewan McGregor as the jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi, and his adventures after the events of the prequel film “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith”. Although, it seems we will not be getting that film and will instead be getting an entire series revolving around the character.

It seems that the talks for an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie had been going on for a while since in the end of the prequels, back in 2005, and start of the sequels, back in 2015. These talks were similar to the long awaited, and still long awaited, Boba Fett standalone film everyone has been wanting since his debut, yet the idea for that film somehow turned into the new Disney + series “The Mandalorian“. The Kenobi film was set to be made after the release of the standalone Han Solo film, yet after the film bombed in the box office Disney abandoned all spin-off films and decided to focus on the main series.

The casting details for this new show have not been released yet, and neither has the plot. If Disney is smart, the show will most likely take place on Tatooine after the events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” and/or somewhere around there. The news for this show is followed by information that Disney will also be making a “Star Wars: Rogue One” spin-off show, starring Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk, as their respective characters of course.

That marks three Star Wars shows on Disney + along with a countless amount of MCU spin-off shows, creating an admirable competitor for original content compared to Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon.
