It is not a good time to be a Dragon Ball Z fan at the moment. After the release of those audio files where the voice actors said some pretty explicit stuff and the continued circulation of the Vic Mignogna case, everything seems to be getting worse and worse. Now there are accusations of sexual assault within Funimation and Chris Sabat‘s own company OkaTron 5000.
Huber made a point suggesting that their was perhaps some acting roles that could only be obtained through the actors willingness to perform sexual acts.
The affidavit states the following from Huber:
“When the Dragonball Kai was being recorded in 2007 [sic], I heard rumors that actresses had been recast at Funimation for refusing sexual advances by Funimation employees. I consider these rumors credible based on my experience working at Funimation and from direct messages received from a former DBZ cast member. I also heard that actresses who participated in sex with Funimation/Okatron5000 employees were cast in roles. I consider these rumors credible based on my experience working at Funimation“
With these claims, a supposed piece of evidence has come out showing their validity. The evidence comes in the form of a direct message conversation between a fan and Stephanie Nadolny, the former voice actress for young Goku, and Kid/Teen Gohan.
The direct message states as follows:
“Sabat is a bully and has been out to get those who don’t run in his pack since day one,” Nadolny continues, “I turned down his advances and ever since then – since like 07, he has been out to get me and make my life miserable.“
The actor in question, Sabat, has spoken out about these claims calling them false and lacking of merit. He had this to say:
“The recent allegations of sexual misconduct at Funimation and OkraTron 5000 are deeply disturbing and completely without merit. These libelous statements are based on groundless rumors and are meant to defame me and my company. Never in my career spanning two decades did I ever witness or participate in such conduct”
Anime News Network has spoken with several sources close to this issue about the recent accusations, and many have shared their experiences and opinions. The lawsuit willing be moving forward on September 6th, and you are more than likely to hear more about these incidents.
