Dr. Horrible Invades North Hollywood!

Hey Shallow Gravers!  Mark your calendar in October for this very special charity event!

Whedonopolis.com and Fandom Charities, Inc. are proud to announce their 4th Annual Halloween Charity Screening of The Guild/Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog on Saturday, October 22nd at 8:00 PM.
This year’s screening will be held at the Regency Valley Plaza 6 Theatre in North Hollywood, CA, and will include a screening of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and the complete Season 4 of Felicia Day’s hit Internet series, The Guild. All funds raised will benefit Kids Need To Read (http://www.kidsneedtoread.org/).
Established in 2007, by children’s author PJ Haarsma and actor Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Serenity, Castle), Kids Need To Read is a 501(c)(3) charity created to provide children’s books to libraries in need and to foster a love of reading in children
Fandom Charities/Whedonopolis’ initial 2008 Halloween screening raised over $4,200.00 for PATH Ventures, a Los Angeles charity dedicated to helping alleviate homelessness, and was attended by creator Joss Whedon and co-writers, Jed & Zach Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, as well as several cast members, including Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day.
After successful back-to-back charity events at the Regency Fairfax Theatre in Los Angeles raised over $10,000 for various charities, weather damage to the historic theatre forced the event to move to the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn in 2010 while Fandom Charities/Whedonopolis staff searched for a new venue.
“While last year presented a great opportunity to try something different, we’re proud to announce that we are back in a theatre again,” Fandom Charities President and Founder Marsia Powers notes, “and we look forward to welcoming all of our friends home, and plan to have even more fun than before!”
Tickets for the event are $20.00 and include the traditional Doctor Horrible’s interactive goodie and swag bag designed to encourage audience participation, as well as special commemorative items and prizes from participating sponsors. Additionally, tickets will be available at the event for on-site prize drawings.
In addition to charity screenings, for the past four years Whedonopolis has hosted the closing event of San Diego Comic Con; an audience participation screening of the acclaimed Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan favorite, “Once More, With Feeling”. This year’s event featured a surprise appearance by Buffy cast member, Nicholas Brendan.
The Regency Valley Plaza 6 Theatres are located at 6355 Bellingham Ave. in North Hollywood, CA. 91606. Parking is free.
