Disappointing Nostalgia: Iron Maiden’s “Ed Hunter” Video Game

When I was a kid, I remember the excitement from playing Iron Maiden’sEd Hunter” and the rush from seeing Eddie pop in and out of my computer screen while shooting up all the bad guys. However, I never finished the game while Windows 95 was still a thing. I only made it through the first three levels before it was time for bed.

So, a few days ago, curiosity got the better of me and I wondered if someone actually did a comprehensive play through of the game. Luckily, YouTuber NintendoComplete played and posted all 2 hrs of the classic game for the world to enjoy. My joy could not be contained as I saw the bands logo, lit up with flames and the opening monologue to “Number of the Beast“. I was like a kid again. However, nothing could describe the boredom that was soon felt after realizing there was literally no point to the game at all. Also, due to the many advancements in gaming technology since its 1999 release, both the graphics and game play have not aged well.

Needless to say, I was slightly disappointed and part of my childhood went along with it. Yes, it’s over dramatic, but I used to speak so fondly of it due to my own personal nostalgia. Some people still my find comfort in the past though and for those of you that want to go down the same rabbit hole as me, just click on the link below…
