Christian Bale Calls Joaquin Pheonix Brave For “Joker”

Christian Bale, the actor who many claim to be the best iteration of Batman, recently attended the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival. He was there for his upcoming movie “Ford vs Ferrari“, which he co-stars in with Matt Damon, while there Bale was asked about another film that will be shown at the festival, “Joker“.

While Bale was walking the red carpet, he was questioned by Variety about the new film “Joker”. Bale played Bruce Wayne/Batman in the Christopher Nolan trilogy, which is regarded as one of, if not, the best live-action versions of the caped crusader to date. Within that trilogy, the Joker was portrayed by late/great actor Heath Ledger, who put on such a performance that people believed the character would never be portrayed as such ever again.

When Bale was asked his opinion of “Joker” he had this to say:

“Joaquin is one of the best actors around, you know, and obviously I worked with Heath,” Bale replied. “You know, it’s a brave thing to follow up that performance and he always makes interesting choices.”

Bale also stated that he is “dying to see it” and that he wishes Joaquin Pheonix the best. Pheonix has been critically acclaimed for his take and role as the Joker, ever since it first premiered in Venice. Yet, the film has yet to reach main stream audiences since doing the rounds in Hollywood. With a release date of October 4th, 2019, this film seems lightyears away. The constant media buzz and praise is also leading to some main stream audience members to be rather weary of the actual film, stating that this all may be hyped up a bit to much. Too much hype can sometimes kill a masterpiece.

But what do you think? Do you think that the movie is going to be worth all the hype? Do you think the film will be a bit overrated? Let us know in the comments below.
