C-3PO Actor Anthony Daniels Expresses His Disappointment With The New Star Wars Films

C-3PO has been there from the start, he is one of the first two characters you even see in the first ever Star Wars films, so there is a sense of respect with the man behind the metal plating, Anthony Daniels. Daniels is now expressing his “disappointment” with the new entries into the series.

Daniels told Express Online, he understands the “backlash” towards Lucasfilms and that he has a message for long-time fans of the series.

The actor says: “Well, yes. I do understand why the fans are unhappy… It speaks to a devotion that they care so much that they mind if someone messes with it. I understand people being critical of the films. I know it has been particularly difficult for him (Hamill) lately because the new movies haven’t given him much to do. I certainly recognize that and can relate to it. In these new movies, I have felt like a table decoration. And that is difficult because I recognize this character (C-3PO) is worth so much more. But I understand it is a whole film, not a feature about C-3PO.

Daniels has been rather silent on his feelings towards the movies, until now. Unlike other original trilogy actors like Mark Hamill, who is now known to drop loaded messages about his disgust for where the series has gone, and how Disney and Lucasfilm have treated his character.

He then went on to say: “That is just my personal disappointment.
I get paid whether or not he does anything but it would be nice for him to have a purpose.

At this point in time, the fans of Star Wars have never been so divided, even more than the time of a certain goofy Gungan. Recently even John Boyega pitched into a debate about how Rey is the strongest force user, which he said was false and that Anakin would wipe the floor with everyone. Which definitely goes against what Kathleen Kennedy is trying to show us in her films.

To end it off, Anthony Daniels has a nice little message for the fans.

People should be respectfully critical. The toxicity was so shocking and unpleasant. And often wrong. To be venomous and cruel is against the ethos of a story about goodness. I get tweets from people saying they will never watch another Star Wars film again. Well, I bet they do. Everybody needs to see how it ends. And I hope they do because, from everything I have seen so far, it is really rather good.
