“Birds of Prey” Official Trailer Looks More Like A Harley Quinn Solo Movie

Now this looks like a DC film done right. Yet, there may be some problems brought from it, besides the existence of Jared Leto‘s Joker being a thing still. It may just be some knitpicking, but this film looks amazing and with a star studded cast, it seems to correct the failures of 2016’s “Suicide Squad“.

My biggest problem with the film, may also be the smallest to a mainstream viewer, yet it will also be a pretty annoying one for an avid comic reader. Ewan McGregor, who no doubtedly will be amazing as the the films primary antagonist, will be playing the character of Black Mask, a common Batman villain. In the trailer he shows charisma that only someone like Black Mask could have but he doesn’t possess a defining feature of the character… THE BLACK MASK. Now, even though he doesn’t possess the feature that gives him his name sake within the trailer, I am hoping that it will be introduced in the film in some manner of speaking and I acknowledge that Ewan McGregor will be amazing as the character nonetheless.

The film’s trailer doesn’t show much about the supporting cast or the other members of the Birds of Prey other than Harley, showing that this film is in fact more of a Harley Quinn focused film. And focusing on Harley’s separation from the clown prince of crime. Although this may be a big point of the film, we have yet to get any other trailers as of this point and the remaining Birds of Prey may get their own stylized trailers detailing their characters, with the production and marketing team deciding to go with Harley first because she is the more recognizable name.

In all honesty, this film seems like a much better version of the “Suicide Squad” and seems to be what that film should’ve been. It looks to hold the happy go lucky style of modern superhero films while also showcasing that grittiness of DCEU films but on a smaller level. With that being said, I can’t back that statement up for the movie has yet to be released and has a release date of February 7th, 2020. The film will also feature the talents of Margot Robbie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Rosie Perez, and Ewan McGregor, as well as many many more.
