Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok Leaked!

With rumors flying all over on what the next title in the Assassin’s Creed series will be, we finally get an answer. After some leaked images on 4chan of some off screen screenshots, we now know that the Assassin Order will be taking its agenda up north. Codenamed “Assassin’s Creed Kingdom”, but actually named “Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok“, the game takes place in the Viking Age!

Supposedly, the map will be split into several kingdoms. With the likes of Great Britain, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden all being optimal places to travel. In these regions (kingdoms) there will be settlements, each semi-customizable and having their own in game economy system particular to that era. The game of course will have ship combat, because a ship is the only way to travel to these places, yet it will be toned down from previous titles in the series. Opting to focus more on exploration than combat, Ubisoft is trying to make this game have a more RPG-esque feel. Even more so than Odyssey.

The game will focus on heavy RPG mechanics, such as putting a larger emphasis on character builds and armor/weapon usage. Armor will also seem to have a big role, allowing the player to change outfits wherever they go to speed up or slow down notoriety build up. Notoriety will be specific to each kingdom and depending on your amount of notoriety, it will determine whether or not Sheriffs will try to track you down.

These are but some of the leaked features in the game. With all these features the game doesn’t even feel like an Assassin’s Creed game anymore, not even following a plot line similar to the one we are accustomed to. Even so, the game still sounds like it may bring the light back to the series which seems to be fading with each installment. It sounds great in theory, but the question stands if these leaks are reliable or not. Even if they are, it makes you wonder if the game will be executed to a good enough degree to where these features benefit it. Set to be announced later this year and potentially released next year, “Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok” is ready to set sail.
