A New “Mortal Kombat” Film Will Be Grounded In Reality

Mortal Kombat” has always been a series known for its outrageous and awesome fights, from kicking the heads off people to throwing spears and screaming “GET OVER HERE”, Mortal Kombat has delivered entertainment to fans for years upon years now. But a new day is coming, and on that day there will be a new Mortal Kombat film, that is hopefully nothing like “Mortal Kombat: Annihilation“, and that film will be the most realistic yet.

According to star Mehcad Brooks, who will be playing the role of Jax, the film will be a grittier and more realistic take on the beloved video game series. He made the comparison for this film to that of Tim Burton‘s 1989 “Batman” film. This film is historically known for taking something that average people considered average or goofy, in this case comic books, and managing to turn it into something dark and gritty.

When I approached Jax I was like okay, well, he’s an assassin, he’s a killer, and he kills monsters, so he has to be a monster,” said Brooks. “And I was stuck on this Ernest Hemingway quote, and I’m sure I’m gonna f—k it up, but it goes along the lines of ‘Once you’ve hunted and killed trained men long enough, you have very little taste for anything else in the world,’ and that’s who Jax is.”

Brooks then went on to reassure the fans of the series to not be disheartened by gritty and realistic take on the series. Brooks stated that the film will still have the elements that fans hold dear to their hearts, the elements that make the series what it is.

Yes you’re gonna get all the fatalities that you’re used to, all the fight moves that you wanna see – of course, we had to put all that stuff in there, but you’re also getting a real story about real people that you can connect with and identify with, and identify with their struggles, and that’s the part that’s gonna be really unexpected.
