Supernatural Has No End Date In Sight

Is A Spinoff In The Works???

Supernatural Season 12

Supernatural has been on the air for 11 years, and when asked about the future of the series on the CW, president Mark Pedowitz said the network has no end date for the show.

“Creatively, the show is fantastic,” Pedowitz said during the Television Critics Association conference. “If the ratings hold, the show could outlast my tenure in this chair.”

The show premiered in 2005 and quickly developed a cult following, becoming one of the most popular shows amongst the target 18-34-year-old crowd and a go-to favorite for merchandisers like Hot Topic, who could profit off of the series’ themes and characters. Starring Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, the series follows two demon-hunting brothers tasked with destroying evil entities across the country.

Both Ackles and Padalecki have been with the series since the pilot episode. While each have worked on other projects throughout the years, they’ve remained committed to the show. Pedowtiz said that as long as the two actors are happy with where the show is headed and their roles, the network had no plans to end it.

“Jared and Jensen are both very happy and like I said earlier, I’m thrilled with the creative direction of the show,” Pedowitz said. “It’s the same answer I’ve been giving for years.”

The next step for the series, Pedowtiz continued, was to give it a spinoff. The network has talked about the potential for a spinoff in the past and Pedowtiz confirmed that the spinoff was still going to happen, it was just a matter of when.

“It’s still a priority,” Pedowtiz said. “I leave it to the studio. When they’re ready to do it, we’ll be glad to have it developed.”

Supernatural will enter its 12th season Oct. 13.
