Synopsis: Management candidate Nick Hendricks (Jason Bateman) has been logging 12-hour days and eating everything his twisted supervisor Dave Harken (Kevin Spacey) dishes out, toward the promise of a well-earned promotion.  But now he knows that’s never going to happen.  Meanwhile, dental assistant Dale Arbus (Charlie Day) has been struggling to maintain his self-respect against the relentless X-rated advances of Dr. Julia Harris, D.D.S. (Jennifer Aniston), when she suddenly turns up the heat.  And accountant Kurt Buckman (Jason Sudeikis) has just learned that his company’s corrupt new owner, Bobby Pellit (Colin Farrell), is not only bent on ruining his career but plans to funnel toxic waste into an unsuspecting population.

What can you do when your boss is a psycho, a man-eater or a total tool?

Quitting is not an option.  These monsters must be stopped.  So, on the strength of a few-too-many drinks and some dubious advice from a hustling ex-con whose street cred is priced on a sliding scale (Jamie Foxx), the guys devise a convoluted but foolproof plan to rid the world of their respective employers… permanently.

But even the best-laid plans are only as good as the brains behind them.

GREEN LANTERN 2011 REVIEW

“GREEN LANTERN” Review: Just Sit Back And Enjoy

I took my boys to see the pre-screening of Green Lantern, a movie they waited months to see, and I have to say we all enjoyed it.

SYNOPSIS: In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds). Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. — (C) Warner Bros

That being said. I like Reynold’s dry humor. I have in every movie I have seen him in. He makes the perfect angsty super hero in the making. Not even going there on the sexy factor.

Peter Sarsgaard really stood out as Hector Hammond, who grew up with both Jordan and Carol. After being infected with an alien virus he mutates into a grotesque 1/2 human, 1/2 alien figure. Watching him go from a geeky bio teacher to a sinster villain with powers was done with such a perfection that you didn’t know whether to cheer or jeer for the character.

As for Reynold’s love interest Blake Lively (Carol Ferris). There wasn’t much chemistry between the two of them. Although I have enjoyed Ms. Lively’s performances in other films. It just didn’t work here. It was more forced and less flowing.

The 3-D visual effects were good as were the fight scenes. I will throw a shout out there that I loved finding out that a good friend of mine Spencer Wilding played the part of Kilowog (although the voice is that of Michael Clark Duncan). Parallax started out as an interesting looking character in the beginning, but towards the end, I have to say he started to remind me of the smoke monster from LOST.

All in all, I would say Green Lantern is a great movie to take the kids to see. My boys enjoyed it and their ages range from 17, 11, to 8 (who even brought his own Green Lantern ring to hold up at the appropriate times). Thumbs Up!

With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

We have for you, the 1st OFFICIAL TRAILER for “The Witching Hour”.  Enjoy!

Synopsis: “Welcome to Forest Cove. A Sleepy New England town…with many stories to be told! When the moon rides high and the clock strikes twelve, DEVLIN DEEDS takes over the air waves. Sitting at the console of his make shift radio station, Deeds turns the old light house into his own personal beacon of terror. Ocean waves crash against the rocks, fog rolls past the full moon, and the night owls of New England call in and share their stories with him. Stories of horror, fear, and dread. ”

A RECORD-BREAKING OPENING FOR “THE HANGOVER PART II

“THE WOLFPACK TEARS UP THE BOX OFFICE AGAIN WITH

A RECORD-BREAKING OPENING FOR “THE HANGOVER PART II”

Comedy sequel has now crossed the $200 million mark worldwide.

Burbank CA, May 31, 2011 Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ “The Hangover Part II” made it a memorable Memorial Day weekend at the box office. The blockbuster comedy has now crossed $200 million worldwide, the fastest of any comedy to surpass that benchmark. The joint announcement was made today by Warner Bros. Pictures President of Domestic Distribution Veronika Kwan-Rubinek. To date, “The Hangover Part II” has grossed more than $205 million globally.

Domestically, the Todd Phillips-directed comedy raked in more than $135 million dollars in its first five days in release, smashing multiple records along the way, beginning with its $10.4 million dollar midnight opening and first-day Thursday gross of over $31.6 million. “The Hangover Part II” broke the three-day, four-day and five-day opening records for a comedy film opening of any rating. Additionally, the film shattered both the Memorial Day weekend record and the Friday-to-Monday holiday record for an R-rated film, with a total of $103.5 million, more than doubling the previous records.

Fellman remarked, “We could not imagine a better way to kick off our summer and, based on audience reactions and strong word-of-mouth, we expect this ‘Hangover’ to last throughout the summer. Cheers to Todd Phillips and the ‘Wolfpack,’ who are back in a big way and who made ‘The Hangover Part II’ an experience no one will forget.”

In addition, “The Hangover Part II,” which was released in 40 territories, woke up to a staggering international gross, topping the box office with $70.05 million on 5193 screens through Monday.

Kwan-Rubinek stated, “With the unprecedented success and continuing popularity of the first film, expectations were incredibly high for ‘The Hangover Part II.’ This fantastic opening shows that the movie not only met but exceeded those expectations on a global level. We applaud Todd, his fantastic cast, and everyone involved in the film, all of whom share in this extraordinary success.”

In “The Hangover Part II” Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zach Galifianakis) and Doug (Justin Bartha) travel to exotic Thailand for Stu’s wedding. With the memory of Doug’s nearly disastrous bachelor party in Las Vegas still fresh—or at least well-documented—Stu is taking no chances. He has opted for a safe, subdued, pre-wedding trip brunch, with pancakes, coffee…and no alcohol. However, things don’t always go as planned. Two nights before the big day, at a fabulous resort in Thailand, Stu relents. One beer each. In sealed bottles. What could go wrong?

“What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but what happens in Bangkok can’t even be imagined.”

“The Hangover Part II” is director Todd Phillips’ follow-up to his 2009 smash hit “The Hangover,” which became the highest-grossing R-rated comedy of all time and also won the Golden Globe for Best Film – Comedy or Musical.

Reprising their roles, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, and Justin Bartha star in the film. Ken Jeong and Jeffrey Tambor also return from the first film, and Mason Lee, Jamie Chung and Paul Giamatti join the ensemble.

The screenplay is by Craig Mazin & Scot Armstrong & Todd Phillips. Phillips also produced the film under his Green Hat Films banner, together with Dan Goldberg. Thomas Tull, Scott Budnick, Chris Bender and J.C. Spink are the executive producers, with David A. Siegel and Jeffrey Wetzel serving as co-producers.

“The Hangover Part II” is a presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures, in association with Legendary Pictures, and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

The film has been rated R for pervasive language, strong sexual content including graphic nudity, drug use and brief violent images.

Their fates have remained a mystery for over 70 years, until a team of researchers discover the trailhead and attempt to track the path the doomed citizens of Friar took.

ABOUT THE FILM:  Shot digitally on location in the remote, isolated region of Northern New Hampshire in June of 2009, YELLOWBRICKROAD tells the story of this expedition; a trek into the uncharted wilderness filled with adventure, peril, shifting loyalties, and perhaps even paranormal activity.

Working with an extremely limited budget, the filmmakers immersed cast and crew in authentic locations and environments instead of relying on sets or visual effects. The New Hampshire location was so remote, cell phone reception and sometimes even electricity were not available at all times. Military grade ATVs, featured throughout the film, were also used to transport crew and equipment to the difficult filming locations.

The movie theater featured in the film was actually built in 1930 and has its own legends of ghosts and suspicious events. To further add to the realism, the film was shot sequentially, mirroring the increasingly difficult physical and emotional journey of the filmʼs characters.

Starring Cassidy Freeman (SMALLVILLE), Anessa Ramsey (THE SIGNAL), and Lee Wilkof (BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOUʼRE DEAD), YELLOWBRICKROAD is  return to the slow burn, character driven horror thrillers of the 1970s.

The Hangover Part II Review

The Hangover Part II Review

By: Yvette M. Kelley

Last night I took my kids to see  the pre-screening of The WB’s The Hangover Part II at The Providence Place Mall. Let me say, we found it funnier than the first. With a similar back based storyline, The Hangover Part II is darker than the original, more action packed, and had the audience howling throughout. Bradley Cooper ( Phil ), Ed Helms ( Stu ), and Zach Galifianakis (Alan), are dynamite together, and have great comedic timing in any situation during the movie. My personal favorite is their facial expressions. Cracked me up every time.

The Hangover Part II, takes place in Thailand, where Stu ( played by Ed Helms ), has decided to hold his wedding. Trouble ensues the 3 Best Friends ( Stu, Alan, and Phil ) as in the original. You have a  Drug Mule Monkey, the Russian Mafia, a cut off finger, and let’s not forget the unforgettable Mr. Chow ( played by Ken Jeong ), who has more of a role in this movie than the predecessor. Which was a brilliant move, this man knows his comedy!

What happened the night before? Will they make it back in time for the wedding? You want the answers to these questions and many more, then be sure to check out The Hangover Part II, which opens in theaters nationwide Thursday May 26th.
