‘MOMENTUM PICTURES’ ANNOUNCES “THE INSTITUTE” RELEASE DATE…STARRING JAMES FRANCO

James Franco’s latest collaboration with Pamela Romanowsky will open March 3, 2017

 THE INSTITUTE

Momentum Pictures announced today that THE INSTITUTE will be released on March 3, 2017 in theaters and on VOD.  THE INSTITUTE is the third collaboration between co-directors James Franco and Pamela Romanowsky.  Produced by James Franco, Vince Jolivette, Jay Davis, Christa Campbell, Lati Grobman, and Scott Reed, the film is a production of Rabbit Bandini Productions.

Set in 19th century Baltimore, THE INSTITUTE tells the story of Isabel Porter (Allie Gallerani) who, stricken with grief from her parents’ untimely death, voluntarily checks herself into the Rosewood Institute.  Subjected to bizarre and increasingly violent pseudo-scientific experiments in personality modification, brainwashing and mind control, she must escape the clutches of the Rosewood and exact her revenge, or else be forever lost.

In addition to Gallerani, the film stars Franco, Joe Pease, Scott Haze, Lori Singer, Tim Blake Nelson, and Josh Duhamel.  Franco previously starred in the Pamela Romanowsky-helmed THE ADDERALL DIARIES, after they were classmates at New York University’s film school, as well as a short film directed by her entitled TAR.  In addition to holding her MFA in directing from NYU, Romanosky is an alumnus of The Sundance Institute’s Screenwriting, Directing, and Composition & Sound labs and the Creative Producing Summit, and a current fellow with Sundance’s Female Filmmaker Initiative.

“I like to find people who I can collaborate with where we can balance out our own experiences, be it behind the camera, in front or in a world outside of filmmaking where we can bring academia and real events into frame,” says Franco. “I’ve been fortunate to work with Pamela on various projects over the years and felt a great relief leaving this story in her hands.”

Franco is represented by UTA and Anonymous Content; Romanowsky is represented by WME; Gallerani is represented by Authentic Talent and Literary Management; Pease is represented by Tilmar Talent Agency; Haze is represented by ICM Partners; Singer is represented by Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein; Nelson is represented by UTA; Duhamel is represented by ICM Partners.

Rabbit Bandini Productions

Rabbit Bandini Productions is a film production company which aims to support independent filmmakers with the creation of groundbreaking narrative, documentary and multimedia content.  The company was founded in 2003 by actor/filmmaker James Franco and producer/writer/actor Vince Jolivette.

Credits include director Gia Coppola’s drama PALO ALTO, Franco’s directorial adaptations of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Cormac McCarthy’s CHILD OF GOD, Nobel Prize-winning author William Faulkner’s AS I LAY DYING and THE SOUND AND THE FURY, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival.

Rabbit Bandini has multiple projects in various stages of development. THE ADDERALL DIARIES starring Franco, Ed Harris, Amber Heard and Christian Slater, was acquired by A24 and set to release this year. Upcoming world premieres include KING COBRA starring Franco, Christian Slater, Alicia Silverstone, and Molly Ringwald at the Tribeca Film Festival, along with THE FIXER starring Franco, Dominic Rains, Melissa Leo, and Rachel Brosnahan. Rabbit Bandini just wrapped production on THE INSTITUTE starring Franco, Pamela Anderson, Topher Grace, and Josh Duhamel. Also in post is THE MASTERPIECE, a film collaboration with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg distributed by New Line.

In addition to these films, Rabbit Bandini has recently launched a new venture with the charity, The Art of Elysium and together they have created the first philanthropic studio Elysium Bandini Studios. The studio brings together the charity and the production under one banner to support emerging artists to create content with all proceeds going back to the charity’s community outreach programs. The 19-year-old charity brings actors and other artists into contact with people in need — from hospitalized children, to the elderly and homeless to, soon, veterans and prisoners. As many as 4,000 artists work in the community outreach programs on projects ranging from essays to poetry to plays, films and art installations.
