Jake’s Take: Wonder Woman Review…”Everybodies Waiting For You!”

DC’S FIRST GREAT MOVIE SINCE THE DARK KNIGHT

Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman

WARNING: SPOILER ALERT!

Who thought “Wonder Woman” would be the movie DC got right? They failed, or had mediocre movies in comparison to Marvel’s movies, but this one was actually amazing. It was funny and exciting from start to end!

Quick summaryWonder Woman (Gal Gadot),for those of you who don’t know, is one of DC’s staple Justice League members and the most well known female superhero in the history of comics!. She is the warrior princess of the Amazons, who lives on the island of Thymscira. Amazonian women are trained, so that they one day may save the world by stopping the terror that is Ares, the god of war.

Wonder Woman has incredible action scenes, with almost flawless fights, not to mention  humorous dialogue within the cast with special note to the main characters Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) who share incredible chemistry.

The action scenes were astounding and showed off the power Wonder Woman with a bonus of leaving a little bit of a teaser on how she will combat in “Justice League”. I found  it interesting that they chose WWI for the backdrop as it is usually glossed over and ignored for its predecessor WWII, maybe Marvel has the rights to WWII with Captain America. Why I found the time period  interesting was because it didn’t follow the American side of the war, instead it followed the English side of the war.

For me though, the main reason I loved this movie was for the villain, a super hero movie is only as good as its villain, and Ares has and always will be one of my favorites. Although not seen for most of the movie, when he arrived, he was incredible and one of the coolest looking villains I have ever seen. His fight scene showed a sort of scale no other hero vs villain fight scene had, and if this was amazing just imagine the Justice League vs Darkseid. Due to spoilers on such a great plot twist within the movie, I can not give too much away! You definitely have to see it for yourself!

Overall the movie was fantastic, and one of the best superhero movies I’ve seen in a long time. It removed all the nitty gritty-ness that the DC movies before it had that made them nearly unbearable to watch, and replaced it with an actual script that hooked in the audience from the start of the movie to when the credits rolled making you want more!  Oh,and did I forget to mention… SHE ACTUALLY SMILED…yeah, that’s looking at you Superman!

I give this movie a 4.7 out of 5 stars! I guarantee you will not be disappointed!
