Alice Cooper Joins Up With Old Friends For New Songs

It Starts With A Demo…

Alice Cooper has been incredibly busy this past year touring and recording with the Hollywood Vampires and his own band, Alice Cooper. Some would think this rock n’ roll old timer might kick his leather boots up and take a break. Well, think again…

Cooper recently spoke with The Arizona Republic and shed some new like on his new plans for 2017. Being joined by bassist Dennis Dunaway, guitarist Michael Bruce, drummer Neal Smith, and producer Bob Ezrin, the original Alice Cooper Group have been recording and writing some new songs that may bring the classic lineup back together again!

“We’re recording demos right now. We’re writing and recording demos. We have three songs from the original band that we’re gonna look at and see if we can turn them into something. If not, we tried. But Neal and Mike and Dennis and I wrote songs together. And what we always do, we know the best ten songs are gonna make the album. It doesn’t matter where they came from. I’m gonna always write the lyrics. And I’m gonna always arrange it. And Bob’s always gonna produce it. If the song comes from Neal, Mike and Dennis, great! I would love that. We have those songs sitting there. We just have to see if they fit in.”

The original Alice Cooper Group recently reunited at Good Records in Dallas, Texas and released a two song 45 (side A: I’m Eighteen and side B: Is It My Body) for record store day called Live From The Astroturf. The 45 featured a gatefold foil board jacket with art prints, a printed inner sleeve, and colored vinyl variants ranging 1150 white, 1150 pink, 100 black, and 100 split color pink/white that were randomly distributed with the art prints in the pink/white being autographed by the four original members.

Let’s hope that some new material is on the way from such a great group. Now if you don’t mind, I’m going to throw on some Cooper vinyls and relax….
