A Farewell To Sir John Hurt…

Fans And Celebrities Give Their Final Words On The Great Actor

Legendary actor Sir John Hurt passed away today at the age of 77. He is known for his many roles including V For Vendetta, Elephant Man, and Doctor Who. Hurts wife released a statement saying “John was the most sublime of actors and the most gentlemanly of gentlemen with the greatest of hearts and the most generosity of spirit…He touched all our lives with joy and magic and it will be a strange world without him.”

Many actors and fans took to social media to comment on their experiences they had shared with Hurt. Mel Brooks stated “No one could have played The Elephant Man more memorably. He carried that film into cinematic immortality. He will be sorely missed.” while JK Rowling said “So very sad to hear that the immensely talented and deeply beloved John Hurt has died. My thoughts are with his family and friends.”

Even Guillermo del Toro and Stephen Fry said their goodbyes with del Toro saying “John Hurt was nothing if not movingly human. Loyal, loving and incredibly intelligent and kind. He was family.” and Fry praising him as “great on the stage, small screen and big”.

Sir John Hurt will be sorely missed and luckily we have his many films and characters to keep his memory strong in our minds.
